Who does not know about the jaguar? Jaguars are the third biggest and one of the most popular cats in the world. Just like tigers these cats also have very aggressive behavior. 
Unlike other cats, jaguars don't avoid water, even they are excellent swimmers and are also successful in carrying out their prey from the water like fishes. Not only fish they are even able to victory over crocodiles and alligators in the water.

2. The name jaguar comes from the Native American word "yaguar", which means ‘he who kills with one leap’.

3. These cats relative to their size have the strongest and most deadly bite.

4. Jaguar is the strongest cat swimmer as well as a most daring hunter.

5. A male jaguar roar is louder than a female's.

6. Jaguars roar is 3 rd strongest roar after the lion's and tiger's roar.

7. Most of the time or more than 50% of the time jaguars hunt larger prey and consume it for over 4 days.

8. jaguars cubs grow 100 times faster than the human.

9. Black jaguars were more active during the full moon.

10. Jaguars can see six times better than humans at night or during darker conditions due to a layer of tissue in the back of the eye that reflects light. 

11. Melanistic or all-black jaguars occur due to a genetic mutation. 

12. Jaguar's fur is usually tan or orange with black spots, called “rosettes” because they are shaped like roses.

 The difference between jaguars and leopards 


There are several similarities between jaguars and leopards given to them by nature.

1. Spots
 

As you can see in the picture above that jaguars have bigger spots with dots inside them. Whereas leopards have comparatively smaller and solid spots.

2. Tail

Jaguars have smaller tails than leopards.

3. The head

Just like their body shape, the size and shape of each animal’s head are quite different. Jaguars generally have large heads with a broad forehead, wide jaws, and round shapes to their faces.
